Coffee Granita

Here you have an idea to enjoy during  this hot summer days! It makes a great dessert or a delicious treat any day of the week!  I hope you like it!

  • 2 tablespoons Instant Coffee Powder
  • ¼ Cup Sugar
  • 2 small Cinnamon Sticks
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract
  • +4-5 cups of water
  • +Whipped Cream to serve

In a saucepan on medium heat, heat up 4 - 5 cups of water together  with the cinnamon sticks, the sugar, the vanilla, and the coffee. Bring to a boil, and once it’s boiling, let it boil for  5 minutes.   Then transfer to a bowl, remove the cinnamon sticks, cover the bowl with a lid and freeze for one hour..

After an hour, remove from the freezer, stir with a fork, and break any ice that had form on the surface. Brake it to make it smooth and freeze again for another hour.

After another hour, remove from the freezer, and use a fork to break down the ice once again.  Place back in the freezer for another one or two more hours, or until it has the consistency that you like..

To serve:  Add a bit of milk in a cup and fill it with the granita, top it with whipped cream and garnish with ground cinnamon.
